Going Narendra Modi way Devendra Fadnavis keeps vital Cabinet posts

Fadnavis decided to keep home and urban development with himself

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday allocated portfolios for his ministerial council but decided to keep home and urban development, two of the most sought-after departments, with himself.

Mr Fadnavis is also the first chief minister in recent history who has kept the home portfolio with himself.

Apparently, infighting among senior leaders led to this decision. However, it has not gone down well with senior leaders Eknath Khadse, Sudhir Mungantiwar and Vinod Tawde.

According to sources, Mr Khadse, Mr Mungantiwar and Mr Tawde are unhappy with the portfolio allocation as all of them were lobbying for the plum home portfolio.

Mr Tawde had announced himself as the next home minister of Maharashtra during the Assembly election campaign itself. Mr Khadse, who was the frontrunner for the chief ministerial berth, also began pressing for the home portfolio once he learnt that Mr Fadnavis was going to be made the Chief Minister
