Dancer killed, two others injured in Outer Ring Road accident

Police said the accident happened in the early hours of Sunday at around 2 am

Hyderabad: An upcoming dancer was killed and two other dancers were injured when their car was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Outer Ring Road in Hayathnagar on Sunday. The trio was on their way to Ramoji Film City when the incident occurred.

The victims are A. Anil Kumar, 25, P. Sai Ram, 23, both residents of Langar House and J. Mahender, 30, a resident of Bandlaguda in Rajendranagar.

The trio belongs to the same dance group and used to perform at small-time events and also participate in competitions.

Sources said they were on their way to participate in a competition at Ramoji Film City.

Hayathnagar police said the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday at around 2 am. The group was travelling in a car from Hayathnagar to Ramoji Film City via NH 65. Mahender was driving while Anil sat beside him and Sai Ram occupied the back seat.

When they reached the bridge near the ORR junction in Peddamberpet, Mahender who was driving tried to take a diversion.

While taking the diversion on the right towards Koheda Road, a rashly driven unidentified vehicle coming from Vijayawada side hit their vehicle from the left.

“All of them suffered serious injuries. Passersby shifted them to Sunshine Hospitals. Anil died while underdoing treatment. The others are being treated. Their condition is stable,” said sub inspector Manmadha Kumar.

Based on a complaint by Anil’s father Abraham a case was registered. A manhunt is on to nab the absconding driver. Anil’s body was shifted to hospital for postmortem.
