BSF officer ‘implicated’ AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal

Guwahati: In what has rocked the political circle of Assam, the “minutes of intelligence officers meeting is now suspected to be an act of an assistant commandant of BSF to retaliate his personal “enmity and grouse” with AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal.

Disclosing that investigation of the security agencies have revealed that the 12-page report, which was circulated to media was the minutes of a meeting of Lead Intelligence Agencies of border guarding forces of the Northeastern states, security sources said that meeting was hosted by BSF in which an assistant commandant of BSF, posted in Barrack valley reported that Jamiat Ulema Hind and AIUDF may motivate Muslim youths to go for training in Bangladesh.

Security sources told this newspaper that the assistant commandant of the BSF also reported, “The inputs have been received that one month training of a teenage group of 5-20 Jamait Ulma-e-Hind (JUH) volunteers, which crossed over to Bangladesh through river route of Sukchar area of Dhubri district had been completed in June-July 2014.”

He also informed the LIA meet, “The 2nd batch of training approximately another 15 JUH volunteers of teenage group is likely to be started in October-November this year for which JUH and AIUDF members are under the process of selecting new trainees for this group.”

Asserting that report was prepared, tabled and leaked to media with some vested interest, security sources said that the LIA meet was also attended by representatives of Assam Rifle, ITBP, SSB and hosted by the BSF at Patgaon, DIG headquarters. Security sources said that Mr Ajmal had lodged formal complaints against a BSF DIG for his alleged inhuman treatment with border villagers and subsequently the BSF DIG was found guilty and placed under suspension.

Indicating that to retaliate their personal grouse against Mr Ajmal, a section of BSF officers had generated this controversial intelligence that has created a storm in the state, security sources said that ministry of home affairs has taken the matter seriously and looking into all aspects of it.
