Military college to open up for civilians on November 1

Aeronautical engineering is the most in-demand course in this college

Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s captive training establishment — Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering — gives the Indian Army over 2000 ‘techno warriors’ every year who give life to damaged weapons on the battle field.

The massive 582-acre campus at Trimulgherry offers Indian Army’s most sought-after courses, with aeronautical engineering being the most in demand.

Unlike other defense management colleges, MCEME has opened its door for civilian tours and around 300 students from various schools will be at the college on November 1.

Aeronautical engineering is the latest addition to MCEME.

The guided-weapon technology course displays the functioning of air defense weapons like basic missiles, anti-aircraft and Aakash missiles.

So far, 586 trained officials of 51 different courses from MCEME have been posted in the Indian Army, which is the highest among any other training establishment in India.

The MCEME is also training ‘Techno warriors’ from the SAARC countries.

It has a separate simulator centre with an artificial battleground set up, where officials are trained on quick action in various scenarios and weather conditions.

The courses at MCEME include electrical and mechanical engineering, electronics, industrial engineering tactics, aeronautical engineering, space technology and guided weapon system.
