BPO staffer murdered on OMR

The victim was walking home alone after getting down from the MTC bus
Chennai: A 23-year-old BPO employee on his way to his room in suburban Perumbakkam after work was stabbed to death by an unidentified gang on Thursday night. The victim was walking home alone after getting down from the MTC bus at Semmanchery when he was attacked, robbed and murdered, police said.
The deceased Sri Harsha, son of K V Naidu, a native of Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh, was an executive in Sutherlands in Velachery. The incident happened near Semmanchery Tsunami Colony on the Nethaji Road where the slum clearance board is constructing a huge apartment complex. Harsha had been staying in the house of a family friend ever since he joined the firm three months ago. Police believe the gang could have taken his electronic gadgets, mobile phone, purse and the gold chain he was wearing.
The police believe that the youth could have resisted the robbery attempt by the gang when he was stabbed and killed at around 11 pm. Police came to know about the murder after some locals informed them about a dead body on the roadside at around midnight. His body was shifted to Royapettah hospital for post mortem. “His family has been informed and after their arrival post mortem will be conducted,” said the Pallikaranai police who are handling the case.
The police believe anti-social elements camping at the under-construction building on Nethaji Road could be involed. They had picked up four persons for questioning. “We have recovered the mobile phone belonging to the victim from one of them. A blood stained shirt was also recovered,” the police said.
A woman employee of TCS has been murdered in very similar circumstances in Siruseri near Chennai when she was returning home at night after work in February this year. She was raped, robbed and murdered near her office by a gang of migrant workers.
