Vaiko most welcome, says Karuna

Karunanidhi hinted a definite political realignment with MDMK and PMK
Chennai: The DMK has started publicly wooing potential allies MDMK and PMK a year before the state goes to polls.
DMK president M. Karunanidhi more than hinted a definite political realignment in the state by describing MDMK leader Vaiko and PMK founder Dr Ramadoss as his “long time friends” with whose party he would welcome an alliance for 2016.
Asked if the meeting between his party treasurer-son Stalin and Vaiko at the wedding reception of Anbumani’s daughter on Wednesday was a prelude to a future alliance, Mr Karunanidhi told reporters here that, “I will be happy if it’s the beginning (of an alliance).”
On his willingness to forge a larger alliance involving PMK and MDMK among others, the DMK president welcomed the proposal and said, “I will happily welcome if the party’s executive and general council finalise such an alliance.” On Vaiko meeting him, Karunanidhi said, “We are not enemies. We are long time friends.”
Vaiko and Ramadoss reciprocated in benevolence. Expressing happiness more than once over the emerging alliance during the interaction with the media, Karunanidhi, speaking at the wedding, further said, “He would have been more proud if the couple (while thanking) addressed him as grandfather instead of former Chief Minister.”
The nonagenarian did not stop there. Recalling Ramadoss’ personal invitation for the wedding, Karunanidhi added, “Do I require an invitation to attend my granchildren's wedding? I have attended the wedding today to assert that right.”
Both Vaiko and Ramadoss were equally benevolent in reciprocating affection. “I am happy,” was Vaiko’s response to Karunanidhi welcoming an alliance with the MDMK for 2016. Incidentally, both Stalin and Vaiko flew to Madurai in the same flight.
While Vaiko safely described the recent bonhomie as a “healthy political culture,” Stalin, moments before boarding the flight, told reporters at the airport that, “If you are happy, so will I be.”
The DMK treasurer was asked to respond on the DMK and MDMK coming together for 2016 assembly polls. Pertinently, the PMK had chosen not to extend the invitation to DMDK leader Vijayakanth for the wedding.
