Security lapses at TTD to blame

Uproar after conversion at Tirumala video goes viral

Tirupati: The state government and the TTD, which looks after the administration of the temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala, swung into action only after the menace of conversion came to light yet again on Wednesday.

According to BJP leader and lawyer Samanchi Srinivas, the 2013 episode of a five-member group going around Tirumala propagating another faith, and getting away with it, indicated security lapses. He further noted that despite stringent Acts which prohibit such behaviour, lapses allow such persons to escape several security agencies including the TTD vigilance, the cops and the SPF.

Telugu Desam state secretary Neelam Balaji, quoted the Tirupati SP who said that the five-member group, led by Sudhir Mondithoka, were let-off by the security personnel at the Alipiri check-point, despite seizing spiritual material of another faith and holding back one person. Mr Balaji wondered how the security personnel let them go without keeping an eye on their activities.

Mr Balaji demanded strict action against the security personnel. He also said that the state should order an inquiry into the incident and take action against all concerned, including senior TTD officials.

Demanding a stern action against the concerned security officials on guard for their negligence that led the clergymen to go around freely around the hill shrine and accomplish their illegal propagation of other religions.

Mr Balaji demanded strict action against the security personnel. He also said that the state should order an inquiry and take action against all concerned, including senior TTD officials.

Mr.Neelam Balaji wondered if the top brass of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams would only confine themselves to darshan and accommodation needs of the devotees. The ruling party leader demanded the state government to order a thorough enquiry and initiate disciplinary action against all concerned including senior officials of the TTD to restore lost faith among the devotees of the Lord.
