Bar owners to go in appeal against verdict

Verdict delivered on was discriminatory as three star hotels alone were denied bars

Kochi: The Kerala Bar Hotel Association general secretary M D Dhanesh said that the verdict delivered on Thursday was discriminatory as three star hotels alone were denied bars.
“We will go to the division bench of the High Court in appeal after studying the verdict. We have to study it after getting it. Our initial understanding is that the court is understood to have based its verdict on a Supreme Court verdict in this regard. However, the learned single judge is understood to have not taken all facts of this SC verdict into consideration. The situation where the Supreme Court denied permission for more bars in the state has now changed. That time there were over 700 bars working in the state. But now 418 bars were first closed and after that 250 bars were forced to close. So allowing bars with facilities to function at this juncture is a just demand,” he said.
