Mumbai: Ekta Kapoor, who shares a close bond with actress Huma Qureshi, is trying her best to ensure the latter lands some good projects. Kapoor has been asking her filmmaker friends to cast Huma in their upcoming films. Word is that it was Ekta who got Kajal Agarwal’s name dropped from the Telugu version of Queen, and was instrumental in getting Huma to play the lead. “Ekta is very fond of Huma. Apart from being friends, she has immense faith in Huma as an actor. I don’t think she went out of her way to get Huma the film. We’re told that Kajal opted out of the film due to remuneration issues,” says close sources.
In the past, Ekta has promoted her friends Prachi Desai and Anita Hassandani in her films and TV shows. Huma’s entry in her camp happened after during the making of Ek Thi Dayaan. While Huma and Ekta have been secretly working on a woman oriented film, the latter is ensuring that her new BFF gets the best films made by her filmmaker friends across film industries.
