Telangana CM KCR ups anti-Telugu Desam drive

New entrants asked to strengthen TRS in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is gearing up to marginalise the Telugu Desam in Telangana. Mr Rao reportedly took the decision to step up the anti-TD drive as he was irked by the constant meddling of his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N. Chandrababu Naidu in Telangana affairs.
The Chief Minister held discussions with new entrants to the TRS from Telugu Desam, Maheswaram MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy, Sanathnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Parkal MLA Challa Dharma Reddy about the present political situation and the TD’s attempts to malign the TRS.
The three Telugu Desam MLAs, besides MLC Vullolla Gangadhar Goud from Nizamabad, will formally joining the TRS on Wednesday. Mr Rao reportedly asked the new entrants to take on Telugu Desam and expose Mr Naidu, strengthen the TRS in Hyderabad and in their respective constituencies.
While Mr Krishna Reddy, Mr Srinivas Yadav and Mr Gangadhar Go-ud will join the TRS at a public meeting on the TKR college campus, owned by Mr Krishna Reddy, in Meerpet, which will be attended by the Chief Minister, Mr Dharma Reddy will join the ruling party in his Parkal constituency in Warangal district, which will be attended by minister for IT and panchayat raj K.T. Rama Rao.
“Several TD leaders, including MPPs, ZPTCs and others, will also join the party. We will strengthen the hands of Chief Minister in making Bangaru Telangana,” Mr Krishna Reddy told this newspaper.
Mr Krishna Reddy is also tipped for the HMDA chairman’s post, which is presently held by the Chief Minister. Arrangements are on in full swing for the public meeting and Mr Krishna Reddy expects about 15,000 to 20,000 people to attend the meet.
Though some more Telugu Desam leaders were expected to join the TRS, it is learnt that some have held back their plans in view of the state government drawing flak from the Opposition over power cuts, ration cards and other issues.
