Anantapur: SP S.V. Rajasekhar Babu directed the RTC and concerned departments to take up joint special drive against unauthorized vehicles transporting passengers in the district.

A meeting was held at SP office with the RTA, APSRTC, vigilance and enforcement wings here on Wednesday following accidents and impact on income for RTC buses due to operations of unauthorised vehicles.

RTC regional manager Venkateswara Rao observed corporation was incurring huge loss in Anantapur region due to plying of unauthorized vehicles-autos, maxi cabs, vans and mini buses carrying passengers violating the norms.

The meeting was decided to conduct a special drive with the RTA, RTC, police and vigilance and enforcement wings from the next week to prevent their operations. The SP said autorickshaws should not be permitted to commute passengers on NH roads to prevent accidents.
