Hyderabad: Over 27 cases against gold stores, 54 cases against wholesale firecracker shops and three cases against sweet shops were registered by the Legal Metrology Department for violations and irregularities.
About 11 firecracker outlets were selling crackers at prices exceeding the MRP on the packages.
There were several price alterations with additional stickers bearing higher prices being fixed. Also, many goods did not mention the date of packaging or the address of the manufacturer.
It was the same case with sweet shops.
Whereas, at gold outlets, many merchants were not deducting the studded stone weight from the actual gold weight. They were also found using non-standard weighing machines.
Many jewellers also did not mention the stone amount or the purity of the gold in the bill.
