After Maharashtra win, Rajiv Pratap Rudy made BJP in-charge of AP and Tamil Nadu

Mr Rudy is expected to “pilot” the TN BJP to success in the 2016 Assembly election

New Delhi: The BJP’s national president and master strategist Amit Shah’s trusted lieutenant in the Maharashtra elections, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, has been made in-charge of AP and Tamil Nadu affairs.

Mr Rudy’s appointment comes as a shot-in-the-arm for the AP BJP which right now is in an alliance with the Telugu Desam. Mr Amit Shah announced the party’s in-charges for various states on Tuesday.

Mr Rajiv Pratap Rudy, who has been made in-charge of of the BJP in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu affairs had meticulously planned over 700 meetings and worked for the party’s handsome victory as Maharashtra’s general secretary.

He is expected to “pilot” the TN BJP to success in the 2016 Assembly election. A commercial pilot licence holder, Mr Rudy is among Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream team.

Senior BJP leader Om Mathur, who was the party’s poll in-charge for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, was named the in-charge of politically crucial Uttar Pradesh.

National general secretary J.P. Nadda was made in-charge of Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

Rajya Sabha member and general secretary Bhupender Yadav was made in-charge of Bihar, where the Assembly elections are due in November next year.

National secretary Siddharth Nath Singh, earlier co-in-charge of West Bengal, was appointed the sole in-charge for that state, replacing Sultanpur MP Varun Gandhi.

Another national secretary, Srikant Sharma, was given charge of Himachal Pradesh.

In Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand, which are going to the polls late this year or early next year, the party named Avinash Rai Khanna and Trivendra Singh Rawat as in-charge respectively.

Mr Khanna, a Punjab leader, had been in-charge of the state earlier too. General secretary Prabhat Jha will take care its affairs in Delhi, where Assembly polls are likely soon.

Ram Shankar Katheriya was named in-charge for Punjab and Chhattisgarh, while Lok Sabha MP Ramen Deka is the new in- charge for party affairs in Arunachal Pradesh.

BJP vice-president Purshottam Rupala is the new Goa in-charge, while another vice-president, Dinesh Sharma, was given charge of Gujarat affairs.

General secretary Murlidhar Rao, earlier in-charge for Tamil Nadu, has now been entrusted with Karnataka.

BJP secretary Anil Jain, who was earlier co- in-charge for Haryana, has been elevated and entrusted with the job of party affairs in the same state.

Tamil Nadu leader and national secretary H. Raja was named in-charge for Kerala and Lakshwadeep. National secretary Poonam Mahajan, daughter of the late Pramod Mahajan, was entrusted with
party affairs in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

Party vice-president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe was enstrusted with charge of party affairs in Madhya Pradesh, and BJP secretary Shyam Jaju was given charge of Uttarakhand.
