Insurance companies have agreed to settle 75% of the claimed amount by October 25

Visakhapatnam: In a relief to those industries that have suffered damages and losses due to the cyclone Hudhud, insurance companies have agreed to settle 75 per cent of the claimed amount by October 25 and the remaining in a week or two thereafter.

More than a dozen insurance companies both in public and private sector are working overtime in clearing the applications from small, medium and large scale industries that were hit by the cyclone. This comes after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had asked the companies to immediately clear the claims.

“Every industry has been affected. We asked the insurance companies to clear claims on priority basis so that operations can be restored immediately. We also requested the entrepreneurs to raise realistic claims,” said CII Vizag chapter former chairman G. Sambasiva Rao, who is a member of the panel appointed by the government to liaison with the insurance companies.

Meanwhile, RINL started reviving its major production units on one hand and also started debris clearing drive in the township which was ravaged by the Hudhud cyclone. RINL CMD P. Madhusudan, launched the debris clearing drive on Monday in the township.

Senior officers from finance department, enterprise resource planning, employees of State Bank of Hyderabad and a large number of VSP employees and their family members actively participated in the special drive to clear the fallen trees as a step towards reviving the beauty of the township.

Mr Madhusudan called upon the employees that the debris clearing programme should be taken up on continual basis with commitment and the management will take necessary initiatives to bring back the green cover around the township soon to regain the lost glory.
