HTC One (M8 Eye) vs Desire Eye: What's the difference

One (M8 Eye) and Desire Eye launched in India on October 17

HTC introduced a series of smart devices in India on October 17, 2014. This includes the launch of HTC One (M8 Eye), Desire Eye and the RE camera. With the introduction of different variants, how’s the HTC One (M8 Eye) different from Desire Eye?

Here’s the difference between the two flagship handsets

Camera:

There’s a vast difference in the camera quality of HTC One (M8 Eye) and HTC Desire Eye. HTC One (M8 Eye) is equipped with a dual 13MP camera on its rear panel and a 5MP front-facing camera.

On the other hand, the 13MP camera on the rear and front panel of HTC Desire Eye makes it a high-end selfie device. The camera of this handset comes with the autofocus dual-LED (dual tone) flash feature as well. With HTC's Zoe collaborative video-editing app on Desire Eye, one can easily remix photos and videos into stylish highlight reels.

Display, body and thickness

HTC Desire Eye and One (M8 Eye) are made up of two different materials. Desire Eye has a waterproof colourful plastic body. One (M8 Eye) has a metallic body, which makes it look much stronger, as compared to the Desire Eye.

The display size of HTC One (M8 Eye) and Desire Eye differs by 0.2 inch. i.e One (M8 Eye) features a 5.0-inch and the Desire Eye comes with a 5.2-inch display.

Even though the screen resolution of both these devices are 1080x1920 pixels, thanks to the difference in the display size and pixel density. One (M8 Eye) comes with a 441ppi pixel density, as compared to the 424ppi pixel density of Desire Eye.

The thickness of Desire Eye measures upto 151.7 x 73.8 x 8.5 mm, whereas, the One (M8 Eye) carries a dimension of 146.4 x 70.6 x 9.4 mm. The Desire Eye (154 grams) is much lighter in weight, when compared to the One (M8 Eye) weighing 157 grams.

Processor, OS and battery:

Powered by a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, HTC One (M8 Eye) and Desire Eye Android handsets run on Android v4.4.4 and Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS respectively. The HTC One (M8 Eye) is fuelled with 2600mAh battery. But the Desire Eye is packed with a 2400mAh battery.

The Desire Eye has an onboard storage capacity of 16GB, with an expandable memory of 128GB. However, the HTC One (M8 Eye) will be available in 16GB and 32GB variants.
