Usha School of Athletics faces CPM ire

The only work is of the synthetic track and that has not been started in full swing yet

KOZHIKODE: The Usha School of Athletics has been churning out international athletes for the past decade, but the CPM seems to be unhappy with the working of the top athletic academy in the state situated at Kinalur in Balussery.

The party on Sunday erected a flex in front of the school complaining of unscientific construction. This followed a meeting convened by panchayat president Ismail Kurumpoyil to launch a protest against the industries park near the athletics school campus.

Usha School of Athletics secretary P.A Ajanachandran said, “This is a big irony for us. We are finding it hard to meet our day-to-day expenses and in the name of a party they are protesting against unscientific construction.

The only work is of the synthetic track and that has not been started in full swing yet. We have no idea how an athletic school is polluting the area,” he said. “Only a natural stream is flowing through the Usha school campus and we have not even hindered its flow in any manner.

We have received good rainfall in the area and the school is in a valley. The rain water goes straight to the industries park nearby and it is the waste there that is polluting the residential area here,” he claimed.
