MIM makes 'Maha' entry by winning two seats in Assembly elections

MIM was founded in 1927 and the party was revived by Abdul Wahed Owaisi, in 1958

Hyderabad: Inspired by the strong show in the Maharashtra Assembly election, the Hyderabad-based All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has decided to expand its base and enter the political stage in Karnataka, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.

The MIM won two seats, its first outside Hyderabad, in the Maharashtra polls. Mr Yusuf Pathan, a lawyer, won from Byculla in Mumbai and former television journalist Imtiyaz Malik won from Aurangabad Central. The MIM was founded in 1927 and the party was revived by Abdul Wahed Owaisi, father of Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi in 1958.
