BJP should grow on its own, says Kishan Reddy

BJP has four seats and is part of the government in AP

Hyderabad: The BJP is looking to make inroads into rural areas in Telangana state on a pro-Telangana plank and as an alternative to both the TRS and the Congress. “We need to come up with strong strategies for this,” said a party spokesperson.

When contacted, Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy said, “Talk of alliances is redundant now. The two state poll results (Maharashtra and Haryana) indicates that the BJP should grow on its own. We will chalk out our strategies and see that the party’s strong presence is felt in every Assembly seat in Telangana state.”

Uppal BJP MLA N.V.S.S. Prabhakar, said, “The BJP’s aim is that all state units should grow independently to provide alternatives to ruling establishments. It is our duty now to grow.”

Telangana BJP state leaders also feel that the party should move out of the capital and try to build a leadership base in all the constituencies to give confidence to people about providing alternative leaders in every Assembly segment.

However the situation in AP would be different from that of TS. BJP has four seats and is part of the government in AP. “We have fair chances to grow as an alternative to the TD.

The Congress is already marginalised in the state. We don’t know what will be the fate of the YSRC. The BJP will have a bright future in AP,” said a senior BJP leader. leadership, which is facing criminal charges.

We need one strong caste support, either from Kapus or Reddy. If Pawan Kalyan moves closer to the BJP, we can definitely emerge as an alternative to the TD in the 2019 elections.

We also believe that it is very difficult for the TD to fulfil its promises; The BJP will have a bright future in AP,” said a BJP leader.

He added that several leaders from the Congress and the YSR Congress were ready to join the BJP but they were worried about the BJP’s relationship with the TD.

Talking to this newspaper from Vizag, AP BJP president Kambhampati Haribabu said “This is not the time for us to think of growing independently, we are part of the government and both state and central governments have promised to rebuild AP in a big way; we don’t know how political developments will take a shape in the coming days.”
