Will pressurize government to rebuild Vizag: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi along with state Congress leaders has been visiting Hudhud affected areas in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: Congress party Vice president, Rahul Gandhi, said that his party MPs, will bring pressure on the union government for rebuilding and recovering Vizag.

The Amethi MP, along with state Congress leaders have visited Hudhud affected areas in Vizag and Vizianagaram districts.

"Vizag is a green and beautiful city. It is unfortunate that, the cyclone has devastated the city and am feeling very sad about it. Our party will bring pressure on the government in the parliament for recovery and rebuilding of Vizag. Our party will be with you (affected people) until your recovery," said Rahul Gandhi at a gate meeting held near Vizag steel plant.

Gandhi directed the party cadre to help the victims in all ways and told them to distribute the roof sheets, cloths and bed sheets.

He also visited Tudem village in Vizianagaram district and met the coconut farmers, who have lost thousands of trees in the calamity.

Later, he visited Kavuluvada village and assured the public that though the Congress is not in power neither in Andhra, nor in the center yet the party will fight on behalf of the public.

The disaster won’t hurt a person in particular or a community.

In the same way the government should also help all irrespective of caste or party.

Rahul said “You have worked for around 20 years to grow the coconut plants but the disaster had washed all the dreams of you. But I have confidence in the public that they will stand on their own feet soon. Lets us work collectively to rebuild the society.”

Later he donated Rs. 1 lakh to eight families, who have lost their relatives in the calamity.

He interacted with the victims in Allipuram and toured in the old city.

PCC chief N. Raghu Veera Reddy, Members of Rajya Sabha T.Subbarami Reddy, K.Chiranjeevi, Former PCC chiefs Botsa Satyanarayana, V.Hanumantha Rao and other leaders have participated in the program.
