Hudhud: Vizianagaram back to normalcy

Huge number of electric poles and transformers and power sub stations were damaged
Vizianagaram: Cyclone-hit victims of Vizianagaram got a little relief as the authorities partially restored power supply on Friday night. Some areas in Vizianagaram were given the power supply and the vegetables and other provisions were available in the market. Telephone services also have been restored to some extent.
Huge number of electric poles and transformers and power sub stations were damaged in the cyclone and as a result darkness prevailed in the entire district in the past six days. People had to live without essential commodities, power and water for all these days.
Government deployed thousands of workmen to restore the power supply and other facilities. Fire engines from other districts are supplying drinking water to the colonies. Electric poles and technicians were brought from Odisha and other districts in Andhra Pradesh. With their serious efforts the power supply was partially restored in some areas in Vizianagaram on Friday. Balaji Nagar, Thotapalem, V.T. Agarharam, Dasannapeta, Vuda colony, Ayyannapeta areas were given power supply for some time.
The authorities are removing the debris from the streets and clearing the roads for smooth movement of vehicles. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and ministers of various departments also visited the district and reviewed the restoration works. District collector M.M. Nayak and other special officers appointed for these rescue operations have been working for the comfort of the public.
K.Sujatha, a house wife from Balaji Nagar said, “we got little relief from the problems. Power supply is partly re-installed, now no problem for water. We are expecting normal life within two days.
R.Somannarayana, Muncipal Commissioner of Vizianagaram said 'we are working day and night to reinstate the facilities. Gradually the situation is coming under control. Within two days all problems will be solved.
