Deputy CM urges junior doctorts to rejoin duties

Gov had made one-year service in government hospitals compulsory
WARANGAL: Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Dr. T. Rajaiah has urged junior doctors, who are on a strike demanding that the government should concede to their demands, to call off their protest on humanitarian grounds as the number of patients suffering from various diseases was increasing across the state. Most of the patients, whose condition is turning critical, are being referred to other hospitals due to non-availability of doctors.
Talking to mediapersons at Hanamkonda on Saturday, the deputy chief minister reminded that the junior doctors, when they had participated in the Telangana stir, had promised to work for more hours in government hospitals to transform the state into Golden Telangana.
He said that the main issue raised by the junior doctors was to stop making one-year service in government hospitals compulsory. The junior doctors also want the government not to withhold their certificates till that one-year service was over. According to G.O No. 165, the junior doctors have to do compulsory government service (CGS) in rural areas.
The junior doctors had raised five issues of which four had been accepted. The deputy chief minister had asked the doctors to come for talks on October 19. He said that their services were required for a Healthy Telangana.
Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital (MGM) superintendent Manohar, regional director Nageshwar Rao and zonal malaria officer Dr. Jaya Sri were present.
