Kochi: One of the prestigious projects of the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA), the multimedia laser show at Rajendra Maidan, will be opened to the public ahead of Deepavali on October 20. Though the project was earlier inaugurated on September 4, by Urban Affairs Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali, the GCDA had been waiting for tax exemption from the Department of Urban Affairs to start the show.
Now, with a formal communication on tax exemption, the development authority has initiated steps to throw open the show to the public. “An order has already been placed to print tickets. The rate has been fixed at Rs 100 for adults and Rs 50 for children. Initially, tickets can be directly purchased from the office and later, it can be done online when the reservation facility will be introduced”, said GCDA chairman N. Venugopal.
The project, christened “Mazhavillazhaku”, has been set up at a cost of Rs 3.25 cr. It is the first such show in South India and the second in the country to combine fountain, dance, water, laser, smoke and video. The 50-minute show has script writer John Paul as the creative mastermind. Yesudas, Mammootty, filmmaker Aashiq Abu, Reema Kallingal, music composer Bijibal, lyricist Santhosh Varma and cinematographer Shyju Khalid are also part of the creative team.
