LoC fire: Border villages to be relocated

Centre to shift the the villagers at least 10 to 20 kms away from the border
New Delhi: In the wake of unprecedented ceasefire violation by Pakistan, the Centre is, for the first time, planning to come out with a comprehensive policy to relocate villages close to the Line of Control and the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan has been resorting to repeated ceasefire violation since July this year but started specifically targeting Indian civilian areas in this month killing at least five persons and injuring more than 30.
Sources said both the Centre and the state government are particular that no innocent civilian should be killed in firing from across the border.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already announced that the Centre will fully compensate those who suffered loss of life and property in the recent shelling by Pakistan.
Sources said the unprecedented firing by Pakistan in October in which Indian villagers were killed has been an eye opener for security forces too, as never in the past did Pakistan specifically target civilian areas with such vengeance.
“There is no doubt that Pakistan had a clear design to kill innocent civilians on our side. Look what happened in Arnia village. It was five kilometres away from the border and BSF post but still the Pakistan forces used mortar shells to target it,’’a senior security official said.
The Centre is planning to shift the the villagers at least 10 to 20 kilometres away from the border.
