LKG kids made to stand in sun, say parents

Students were allegedly punished for not paying fee; Principal rubbishes claim

Hyderabad: Parents have alleged that over 30 lower kindergarten students of Mom’s Angels School, in Ghatkesar, were made to stand in the sun on Monday for not paying fees on time.

There was tension at the school as parents got into a verbal duel with the teachers for putting their children through so much fear and panic.

Brushing off the parent’s allegations, the founder of the school, however, said that it was actually one of the parent's fault as he was denied fee concession and transport for his kids at the school.

“These small kids were made to stand in the sun for not paying fees for more than two hours and they fell sick. How is it their fault? They are too young to know all this. This created panic among them and they were severely dehydrated,” said a parent.

AP Balala Hakkula Sangham, an organisation working for child rights, took the issue to the notice of the district educational officer, who has sought an enquiry into this.

Srujan Rao, founder of Mom’s Angels said, “This is all wrong. These kids did not come to school till 11 am, and one parent made them stand outside the school gate and took photographs to submit as evidence. He wanted concession for both his kids. Moreover, he wanted me to provide transport as well. In my school, there are 76 students and I provide free education to eight of them. I have in fact complained at the police station that this particular parent threatened me,” he said.
