Chennai: The Madras high court has directed the state government to file an affidavit as to the steps taken with regard to the alleged display of banners and pasting of posters denigrating the judiciary, within three weeks.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice M. Sathyanarayanan posted to November 11, further hearing of the petitions filed by DMK lawyer R.S. Bharathi and PMK lawyer K. Balu and Human Rights Protection Centre (HRPC).
In their petitions, they challenged the decision of the Federation of Association of Private Schools in TN to close down the school on September 7 in support of AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa, who was lodged in Bangaluru prison following her conviction and sentence of four years in disproportionate assets case.
They sought a direction to authorities to prohibit agitations, pasting posters and banners, condemning the judiciary for sentencing AIADMK chief.
