Traders to move Competition Commission of India against online retailers

Some of the leading brands have already taken objection to diluting the value of their brand

Chennai/New Delhi: Retailers have called theses sales completely anti-competitive and threatened to move the Compe-tition Commission of India (CCI) against predatory pricing by online retailers.
The retailers also fear that it will set a bad precedent that will impel other e-commerce portals to follow the same model.

While shoppers have always been against online counterparts, this week’s online sales pitch has woken up major consumer brands. Some of the leading brands have already taken objection to diluting the value of their brand and have refused to extend service warranty for products bought from the site.

A few others have also announced that though they would continue online sales, they would strictly refrain from selling to portals as Flipkart, that offer huge discounts. Faced with dealers’ ire, a leading consumer brand had gone to the extent of assuring that a few products will be sold only through offline channels and not online.
