Another Badaun: Two sisters killed, bodies stuffed in gunny bags in Uttar Pradesh

Two women members of the victim's family tried self-immolation in protest

Lucknow: Four months after the murder of Badaun sisters, a similar incident was reported from Jalaun district on Saturday evening.

Two sisters were abducted and murdered in Jalaun and their bodies were found in gunny bags in a river on Friday evening from the Orai police circle.

The incident has generated tension in the area and two women members of the victims’ family attempted to immolate themselves on Sunday in protest against police inaction.

Angry locals also pelted stones at the police personnel who later fired in the air to disperse the mob.

The mob burnt car tires and damaged some vehicles. Women threw bangles at the cops

The government has suspended the SO, inspector and two constables for dereliction of duty.

According to reports two sisters Neetu, 17, and Vaishali, 15, both daughters of Raju Shukla, had gone missing from their homes a few days ago.

The girls’ father had informed the police but no effort was apparently made to trace the girls.

The victims’ family had named an engineer Jaihind Chaturvedi, his son Gaurav Chaturvedi, Atul Gupta, Raja and four others in their FIR when the girls went missing but no action has been taken against the alleged accused.

On Friday evening, some locals saw two gunny bags floating in the river.

The police was called in and when the bags were opened, the decomposed bodies of the two girls fell out.

The post mortem was conducted later in the night but the report has not yet been made public.

Before cremating the bodies on Sunday, the local people placed the bodies in front of the police station and staged a demonstration demanding immediate arrest of the culprits and necessary action against guilty and inactive policemen.

Talking on condition of anonymity, a senior police official termed the incident as a case of ‘love affairs gone wrong’.
