K Chandrashekar Rao readies tips for leaders

CM likely to reveal roadmap at combined TRS party meeting on Sunday

Hyderabad: Implementing electoral promises, tackling the Opposition onslaught, besides keeping party leaders in good humour feature among other issues in the agenda at the crucial October 5 meeting of TRS leaders. The meetings has been convened by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Mr Rao, who promised to ground many pending welfare schemes between Dasara and Deepavali, is likely to spell out the ro-ad map at the first combined meeting of the TRS Parliamentary party, Legislature party, state committee and politburo at the Telangana Bhavan on Sunday.

The Chief Minister partially grounded the party’s major electoral promise of 3 acre land for Dalits, Rs 1 lakh loan waiver scheme with payment in instalments, special Telangana increment to government employees, hiked pension, announced Rs 10 lakh ex gratia for kin of those who died for Telangana among others after the Opposition’s criticism over the delay.

But the government has been dragging its feet on the much publicised two-bedroom houses for weaker sections, fee reimbursement and others. The housing scheme has been held up as the government ordered a CID inquiry into past irregularities and this may take some time before a new scheme is launched. “Our government has a kind heart. We will not go back on our electoral promises and development despite criticism from the Opposition,” finance minister Etela Rajender said.

A senior TRS leader said, “Good days are ahead. We are confident the CM will fill nominated posts. TRS leaders are eagerly waiting.” MLAs like Juppally Krishna Rao, J. Venkat Rao, Konda Surekha, Koppula Eshwar and others are eagerly waiting for Cabinet berths, while senior party leaders are eyeing nominated posts.

With home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy bedridden and undergoing treatment for a severe leg problem, which may take time to heal, the Chief Minister may hand over the home portfolio to another incumbent till Mr Narasimha Reddy recovers, in the expansion and reshuffle of the Cabinet.

Sources said the Chief Minister will announce the road map for party leaders and cadre on the implementation of party’s electoral promises and would ask the leaders and cadre to publicise the same, while taking on the Opposition.

Though Mr Rao had announced before polls that TS would face power crisis for at least three years, the continuing farmers’ agitation again-st power cuts has forced the government to look for alternative measures.
