Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi flexis dismantled in capital

Hyderabad: Dismantling of life-size flexis of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her daughter Priyanka Gandhi at NTR Marg (opposite the Indira Gandhi statue) on Tank Bund has kicked up a row. The flexis were put up by Congress city president Danam Nagender as part of the Bathukamma festivities.

Speaking to this newspaper, Mr Nagender said, “How can the newly formed state disrespect the very woman who had granted its long-pending dream. By pulling down the flexis, the GHMC has shown disrespect towards the person who had gifted the state. When Bathukamma is a festival of womanhood, what kind of gratitude is the ruling party showing to Mrs Gandhi. I am trying to contact the GHMC commissioner, however, he seems unreachable.” Meanwhile, GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar said he was not aware of the incident.
