Puducherry Congress demands CBI probe into fake certificates scandal

Students have gained admission to professional colleges in government quota
Puducherry: Former MoS and Congress leader V. Narayanasamy on Wednesday said his party would press for a CBI probe into alleged instances of increasing number of students gaining admission to professional colleges in government quota by producing fake certificates relating to their nativity and residence in Puducherry.
Talking to reporters here, he said six students had joined the medical colleges through Centralised Admission Committee in this quota by submitting certificates declaring them as natives of Puducherry while they actually belong to TN and had not satisfied minimum period of residence to be eligible for admission under government quota.
He alleged that government officials and those having close access to the ministers were involved in issuing fake certificates. Narayanasamy said his party would wait for a week for the government to approach the CBI failing which his party would straightaway approach the central agency. He dubbed as “eyewash”, the current enquiry by the revenue officials into the incidents and said only a CBI probe would bring to light the scams in issuing the certificates.
