Microsoft cloud services is expected to arrive in India in 2015

Mumbai: Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella announced that the tech giant has planned to offer commercial cloud services -Azure and Office 365, from local datacenters in India by 2015.

Microsoft claims that the hybrid cloud adoption will benefit Indian companies by offering data sovereignty, lower latency and geo redundancy with the availability of local infrastructure.

With the introduction of cloud services, Microsoft aims to fulfill the IT requirements of the finance industry for productivity as well as platform solutions. Companies like Bajaj Finance, Fortis Hospitals and FCB/ULKA have started using Microsoft’s cloud technologies.

Microsoft’s cloud service is a part of #Accelerate India. It will also open opportunities for banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) companies, state-owned enterprises and government departments to adopt the public cloud.

The new cloud service is also expected to boost local start-ups by providing Azure credits worth $60,000 through the BizSpark+ initiative. With over 4,800 start-ups enrolled into the BizSpark program in India, Microsoft has already invested over $10 million in providing Indian entrepreneurs with access to Azure.
