US seeks Indian kit for Ebola

US has requested India to provide medical assistance and operation of two Ebola treatment Units
New Delhi: The White House has asked for “additional specific” co-operation from India in an effort to combat the current outbreak of Ebola. It is learnt that the US has requested India to provide medical assistance including staff and operation of two Ebola treatment Units (ETUs) that will require atleast 15 management personnel, over 450 medical professionals, and about 200 non medical staff.
It has also requested India to provide personal protective gear of International standards. The wish list from Washington also incl-udes help for telephone connectivity. The US has also asked if transport and other help to inc-rease access of critical supplies can be provided by the TATA group in Africa.Sources say that PM Modi is expected to make a major anno-uncement in this reg-ard before he leaves for the US which will be worked into the US’ summit statements.
