Vijayawada Municipal Corporation streamlines bills

The Vijayawada city has been surveyed by CAD Infosystems for the past three years
Vijayawada: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation is testing a new system to collect water and sewerage bills and issue receipts on the spot. The spot billing mechanism will be tested for 10 days so that it can be tweaked to overcome problems, if any are detected, before it is used in all the wards.
The Vijayawada city has been surveyed by CAD Infosystems for the past three years. The agency has allotted new door numbers to houses, vacant lands and collected information regarding water and sewerage connections and their meter status.
The agency has also divided each revenue ward with a large number of assessments as two dockets and two revenue wards with fewer numbers of assessments as a single docket. This way, the 55 revenue wards have now been categorised into 55 dockets. These dockets have specific boundaries, door numbers, water meter numbers and other info required for tap inspectors, bill collectors and revenue inspectors in the corporation.
Municipal commissioner C. Hari Kiran has directed the deputy engineer, assistant engineer and tap inspectors, bill collectors and revenue inspectors in to conduct a random survey with the information given to them and identify any problem within the next 10 days.
