A coat of special paint to blast-proof Chandrababu Naidu's office

Mr Naidu’s office is located on the Secretariat’s 8th floor in L Block

Hyderabad: Acting on the advice of security officers, the AP government has decided to paint the walls of AP Chief Minister N. Chand-rababu Naidu’s new office at the Secretariat with blast-resistant paint.

The officials informed that polymer-coated blast resistant material technology was capable of safeguarding the building from explosions and bullets.

The extra precaution was needed at the office as the Secretariat was exposed to the main road.

His offices in the TD head office at NTR Bhavan and his residence have no big buildings nearby.

Mr Naidu’s office is located on the Secretariat’s 8th floor in L Block. One side is exposed to the main road by the Telugu Talli flyover.

On the opposite side are a few buildings that are of the same height as Mr Naidu’s office. The Birla Mandir by the L block is also of the same height.

Keeping this in view, the security officers suggested that the government use the special paint in the 8th floor of the L Block towards the main road side. The windows will have bullet proof glass.

In addition, security personnel will be posted round the clock at Birla Mandir and nearby buildings. They will also be posted above the CM’s office and will continuously scan the surroundings with binoculars.

Two security officials have been reportedly suspended for allowing a TV channel to shoot AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s new office. Following this incident, mediapersons are not being allowed with cameras.

Apart from the CM’s office, the 8th floor houses the Cabinet meeting hall, conference hall, a separate waiting hall for ministers, and another waiting hall for visitors. The 7th floor has a video conference hall, a conference hall and offices for CM’s peshi officials.

Officials are also arranging for a separate lift for the Chief Minister’s Office, which will only be used by the Chief Minister and the chief secretary.

The CM’s new office will be ready in four days and Mr Naidu is likely to start working from there from October 3.
