French premier rejects notion country is 'sick'

Manuel Valls spoke after a meeting in Berlin with German Chancellor Angela Merkel

Berlin: France's prime minister has dismissed the view that his country is "sick," and insisted that it is both willing and able to carry out economic reforms.

German daily Bild on Monday referred to France as "Krankreich" - a play on words in German that translates as "sick country."

Without naming the paper, Prime Minister Manuel Valls called such descriptions "caricatures" and urged Germany to have greater confidence in France.
