NTPC loses 1,000-Mega Watt power

Power production was halted due to technical glitch
Karimnagar: Power production at the IV unit of the National Thermal Power Corporation was halted due to a technical glitch in Ramagundam on Sunday. Earlier, the V unit of the power station could not generate power following leakage to boiler tube on Saturday. As a result, nearly 1,000-MW power is not being produced due to the problems in the two units.
Production at the VI unit has already been stalled for the annual overhaul which began on September 18.
At present, the corporation is producing only 1,100 MW power against its installed capacity of 2,600 MW. The Ramagundam super power station has been witnessing suspension of power production at one or the other unit owing to technical glitches and shortage of coal supply, caused by incessant rains, in the recent past. The corporation has seven units of varied capacities in its power station in Ramagundam
