BCCI-Rajasthan CA impasse continues

Patel said that RCA remains suspended but their players can play for unrepresentative areas
Mumbai: BCCI deferred the disciplinary meeting convened on Saturday to assess the Rajasthan Cricket Association’s reply to the show-cause notice following its suspension on May 6. Representatives of the RCA led by deputy president Mehmood Abdi also attended the meeting. “It has been deferred because they have raised certain objections. We will go through them and then revert to them,” said BCCI Secretary Sanjay Patel.
Patel said that RCA remains suspended but their players can play for unrepresentative areas and Jammu and Kashmir players who are currently battling devastating floods that has left the cricket grounds there in awful condition can play their matches in Mohali.“RCA has been suspended so we cannot allow an RCA team to take part. Probable solution is we have proposed to have a team from unrepresentative areas so that boys from all these problem areas can play. That option is always open,” he said.
“There are certain other areas also like recently we have taken a decision that due to the natural calamity in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab Cricket Association have come forward and all of Jammu and Kashmir’s home games will be played at Mohali,” he informed. Abdi said they rose objections about the jurisdiction, composition and the constitution on mainly two grounds “Firstly, the members of the disciplinary committee, Mr Shivlal Yadav and Mr Rajiv Shukla were never appointed as members of the disciplinary committee, in the AGM held on September 29, 2013. Moreover, the minutes of the AGM have not been circulated to any of the state associations so far,” Abdi said.
“Secondly, as per the BCCI bylaws, there have to be three members in the disciplinary committee whereas they have only two members right now. We also raised the issue of a possible apprehension of bias against Mr Rajiv Shukla,” he added. Patel defended the objections raised by RCA members. “AGM minutes cannot be given as they are not finalized. Even today they are draft minutes. The committee is constitutionally valid, properly appointed and approved by the AGM in the AGM. Everything has been done properly,” he said.
