Tainted VCs: BJP team meets Governor Vajubhai Vala

BJP leaders requested him to also act against other ‘tainted’

Bengaluru: Encouraged by Governor Vajubhai Vala ordering an inquiry into the conduct of Karnataka University Vice-Chancellor, H.B. Walikar, BJP MLCs led by chief whip of the opposition in the legislative council, have now urged him to take similar action in other universities which are battling nepotism and corruption.

BJP leaders elected from the teachers and graduates constituencies to the legislative council, who met the Governor at Rajbhavan Friday evening, requested him to also act against other ‘tainted’ Vice-Chancellors.

They especially objected to the extension given to Visveshwaraiah Technical University (VIU) Vice-Chancellor, Dr. H. Maheshappa by former Governor, H.R. Bharadwaj when he was facing corruption charges and also drew Mr Vala’s attention to the corruption cases against Professor Rangappa, former Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka Open University who was made Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University despite this.
