JNTUK requests Centre for Rs 823 crore

The University needs Rs 186 crore for its innovation

Kakinada: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) asked the Union Human Resources Development ministry and University Grants Commission for Rs 823 crore for taking up various developmental activities in the varsity.

The University needs Rs 186 crore for its innovation university and Rs 28 crore for Innovation Research Center. He said that Green Energy would be set up at a cost of Rs 10.61 crore.

Vice Chancellor, JNTUK Dr. G. Tulasi Ram Das said that facilities would be created for researching activities in different sectors like environment, solar, wind, biomass and other energies. He said that the University requested the HRD ministry to sanction Rs 254 crore under Rashtriya Uchit Siksha Abhiyan scheme (RUSA) to set up two new colleges at Srikakulam and Machilipatnam. He said that the University College of JNTUK at Narsaraopet will be start its classes from the next academic year 2015-16.

He said that the University requested the state government to rele-ase funds for salaries and maintenance and for cosntructing buildings. He said that CIPET center has been sanctioned to JNTUK for introducing Plastic Engineering Technology and Rs 10 crore is to be sanctioned.

He said that proposals have been sent for Rs 333 crore under special development scheme. University Grants Commission (UGC) has agreed to sanction Rs 10.60 crore for alternative energy option, he said. He said that the University would be vastly developed in next three years as the outcome based syllabus would give good results. He said that the UGC has released Rs 4.26 crore out of Rs 10.5 crore till now.
