Botsa faces liquor scam investigation

TD government is positively considering an inquiry

Hyderabad: The alleged involvement of former Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana in the liquor shops syndicate case is likely to be probed.

Andhra Pradesh excise and BC welfare minister Kollu Ravindra on Friday said the TD government will positively consider ordering an inquiry.

“I will consult Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and no one will be spared. If needed, cases would be pursued against former minister Botsa Satyanarayana,” he said in reply to queries from reporters.

It may be mentioned that even ACB raids were conducted on liquor shops in Vizianagaram district on allegations that the then CM, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, was targeting Botsa Satyanarayana.

The AP excise minister said three regional excise enforcement offices would be set up in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati within a month. The excise department was taking steps to run 430-odd wine shops, that did not find takers in the auction, on its own, he added.
