Kerala RSS leader murder: CPM leaders refuse to cooperate with SIT

SIT sources said they have the names of the CPM leaders who actively participated in the conspiracy to save Vikraman

Kozhikode: The CPM leaders who have been summoned by the SIT probing the murder of RSS activist Manoj are on a non-cooperation mode after the arrest of C. Prakasan, Kizhake Kathirur local committee member and managing director of Patyam Service Society.

Prakasan was arrested after being summoned for questioning to the Crime Branch office and the other leaders also fear that they may also have a similar fate if they report for questioning.

However, Crime Branch sources said their non-cooperation will only worsen the case against them over their involvement in the case.

SIT sources told DC that Prakasan was arrested after collecting ample evidence against him. “We had collected materials that categorically prove the role played by Prakasan in hiding the prime accused Vikraman in Payyanur. He had also confessed to the crime and we recorded his arrest. Many more CPM leaders will be arrested for their involvement in the murder and criminal conspiracy to save the accused in the case. If they do not respond to the summons, we will have to approach the court to get the arrest warrants against them,” a senior SIT official told DC.

“We are not looking into the conspiracy behind the murder but the conspiracy after it to save the accused. When CBI takes over the case we will provide them enough materials to prove the involvement of the key accused in the case and they can investigate the larger conspiracy angle,” the official added.
