Hyderabad: A three-year-old girl was crushed to death by an RTC bus while she was playing near her house at Ghousenagar in Bandlaguda in Chandrayangutta. The victim was identified as Samreen. The stationary bus rolled down a slope and ran over the child killing her instantly. The bus, which had developed a technical snag, had been parked on the roadside and was being repaired. After it had been repaired, the driver and the mechanic left the vehicle with the ignition on and went to have tea.
The bus soon began rolling down due to vibrations. Locals noticed this and tried to stop the bus but were unable to do so. “The bus crushed the child who was playing close by. She came under the front tyres and was severely injured resulting in her death,” said K. Narender, Chandrayangutta sub-inspector. A case of negligence was registered and is being investigated. The detention of the driver is yet to be confirmed. Sources said though police arrested the driver they are yet to confirm the detention. The child’s body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital for post mortem.
