Shame: BJP workers carry Tricolour in undergarments to fly it on Golconda fort

Police have booked a case against the two party workers for insulting the national flag

Hyderabad: Two over-enthusiastic Bharatiya Janata Party workers allegedly concealed the Indian flag inside their underwear in order to evade the police and get inside the Golconda Fort on Wednesday morning following their leaders’ call to hoist the flag on the occasion of Hyderabad Liberation Day.

However, the West Zone police arrested the two when they pull-ed out the flags from their pants and tried to hoist them. Police have booked a case against the two party workers Rahul Sharma and Hareesh Kumar for in-sulting the national flag. “A case has been booked,” said DCP V. Satyanarayana.

In Warangal, The Telangana Liberation Day, on Wednesday, was marked by various political parties by paying rich tributes to those who lost their lives in the hands of Indian Army during the merger of Hyderabad State with the Indian Union in 1948.

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the main opposition Congress party, BJP and Telugu Desam Party (TD) leaders marked the day by unfurling the national flag and organising meetings.

TRS Warangal district president Ravinder Rao unfurled the national flag at the party office. He reminded that it was on this day that the then Hyderabad State got merged with the Indian Union after the last Nizam surrendered to the Indian Army.

At the Congress Bhavan in Hanamkonda, the party leaders unfurled the national flag upside down. However, they later corrected it.

The Congress leaders alleged that the TRS was trying to distort Telangana history and thus, hurting the sentiments of the people in the region. They wanted the government to officially organise some programmes marking the Liberation Day.

Ex-minister B. Saraiah, Ex-mayor E. Swarna, DCCB president J. Raghava Reddy, PCC and others party leaders were present.
