Can Narendra Modi win Bengaluru city civic body poll for BJP?

BJP national president, Amit Shah, is expected to arrive in Bidar on Wednesday

Bengaluru: The state BJP is going all out to make a huge success of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two day visit to Karnataka, the first after he assumed office, to cash in on his popularity and up its image, especially with the BBMP elections round the corner. Mr. Modi , who is arriving to inaugurate Asia’s largest food park at Tumkur, will spend September 23 and 24 in the state. On arrival, he will be felicitated at HAL airport by the state BJP at a grand event with a 50,000 strong crowd which he will address.

“This is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first visit to Bengaluru after assuming office and so we need to make it a huge success. You must generously donate to arrange the function,” former home minister, R. Ashok told party workers and BBMP councillors at the Bengaluru BJP’s executive committee meeting, also requesting them to make sure that at least 1000 people from each assembly constituency in the city attended the meeting.

“Make the Prime Minister’s maiden visit to Bengaluru successful keeping in mind the coming BBMP elections,” he advised them. Union Minister for fertilisers and chemicals, Ananth Kumar, for his part, urged party workers to popularize the work done by Mr Modi in his first 100 days in office.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi gained international attention in 100 days which former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh could not do in 10 years. His ‘Jan Dhan’ yojana is widely appreciated. Within 20 days of launching the scheme, three crore people opened bank accounts and by the end of December this year, eight crore bank accounts will be opened,” the minister said.

BJP national president, Amit Shah, is expected to arrive in Bidar on Wednesday for the bhoomi pooja of the construction of the Martyrs’ Memorial Bhavan in that city.
