Tamil Nadu BJP will raise funds for J&K relief to mark Narendra Modi’s birthday today

BJP to collect funds from the public towards the PM relief fund
Chennai: As allies greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the eve of his birthday, the state unit of the BJP has decided to convert the occasion into an effort to raise funds from the public towards the PM relief fund to rehabilitate the Jammu and Kashmir flood-hit victims.
“His birthday celebration will be simple and it will not be held on a grand scale as we had originally planned. Our party members will involve in mobilising funds towards the PM relief fund for five days commencing from September 17 (Mr Modi’s birthday),” says state BJP president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan.
She pointed out that her party’s office-bearers had dropped all plans to celebrate the party leader and Prime Minister who piloted the BJP to a spectacular victory in the April Lok Sabha election, in a grand manner.
Since Mr Modi appealed that his birthday should not be celebrated in view of the floods that ravaged Jammu and Kashmir displacing large number of people, the state unit would make the celebration a low key affair.
Party workers will wholeheartedly involve in raising funds for the relief and rehabilitation work, she said while extending birthday wishes to him and also on the state unit’s behalf to Mr Modi. She appealed to her party members to involve in nation-building activities.
