By poll result: No place for Telugu Desam in state, says Telangana CM KCR

TRS won the byelection with the highest margin in the country
Hyderabad: Describing the thumping victory of the TRS in the Medak Lok Sabha bypoll as peoples’ endorsement of government programmes and policies, Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday said it proved there was no place for Telugu Desam in Telangana anymore.
Promising to implement electoral promises from Dasara, he reiterated providing 24x7 power supply after 36 to 40 months, enhance subsidised rice to the poor from the present 20 kgs to 30 kgs and bring about Rs 1 lakh loan waiver scheme to farmers despite RBI rejecting the plea to reschedule loans in nine districts.
“In this election, people made it clear there is no place for Telugu Desam in Telangana. Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu spent huge amount but in vain. They tried everything. This is not correct. The party (TD) is dead,” he said.
He reminded people that the TRS won the byelection with the highest margin in the country and even in Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi’s constituency Vadodara, the margin slumped.
About TRS’ 100-day rule, he said, “I am sorry. I did not do much in 100 days. But 100 days is not the cinema or the Sensex. We have to formulate schemes and implement it thoroughly. It’s a new state. People have given time.”
An elated Rao thanked Medak people, the CPI, the CPM, his party leaders and workers for support. Describing TRS’ win as a slap on the face of the Congress and the BJP-TD combine, Mr Rao said TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah and some TD and BJP leaders threw all norms to the winds and indulged in Rao baiting.
“Both parties (Congress and BJP) lost deposits. I feel sad to say they tried to find fault with everything the government does. Whether it is the survey, action in housing scam, demolition of illegal constructions, weeding out bogus cards and delay in the budget session. They resorted to Goebbels like propaganda. But people hit them back,” he said.
Referring to the waiver of Rs 1 lakh loan to farmers, he said the RBI was rigid on rescheduling loans only in three districts. “I am holding discussions with bankers. I will ask them whether they will extend it to all districts or we will make alternate arrangements and provide bonds to farmers,” he added.
Justifying the delay in implementing welfare schemes, Mr Rao said he wanted to ensure they are successful since a small mistake at this juncture could affect future generations.
