Hyderabad police go hi-tech to investigate crimes

The network will help police to share data regarding investigations and detection of crime with other police forces

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police joined a network that will enable it to share data with 14,000 police stations across the country. Hyderabad police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy on Tuesday launched the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems, which has been set up by the National Crime Record Bureau and the Union home ministry.

The Cyberabad police had launched the project recently. The network will help police to share data regarding investigations and detection of crime with other police forces. It will help them store and ana-lyse details of interstate criminal gangs and their activities. Mr Mahender Reddy said biometrics of the criminals would be shared with police across the country, which would help the police spread their dragnet nationwide. The data will also be shared with state police headquarters.
