Visakhapatnam’s ‘hero’ kid recounts his ordeal

Korubilli Damodhar, who was kidnapped and rescued after a week, bravely recounted his tale of horror
Visakhapatnam: The nine-year-old boy, Korubilli Damodhar, who was kidnapped and rescued after a week, bravely recounted his tale of horror on Tuesday. Damodhar said that on September 8, he was on a bicycle with an acquaintance, a 16-year-old boy, to witness Ganesh idol immersion.
Two kidnappers, K. Keshava Rao, 32, and Konthala Chendrashekhar, 23, tried to lure Damodhar with the promise of chocolates, which Damodhar refused.
The kidnappers forcefully took him inside a hut. Recounting those days Damodhar said, “I was planning to escape from the place. But, then the place used to get very dark and scary in the nights, so I dropped the plan.”
When asked if he cried during the ordeal, he said, “I wanted to cry, but I suppressed my feelings. I once told them that I am bored and want to go to the beach, because I thought of escaping from there. However, they did not heed to my request.”
He further added, “They used to bring me food regularly. Once they brought biryani, but I suspected that it might have poison mixed. So, I did not eat it. However, after a while I was hungry and ate it.
“Sometimes the kidnappers used to show me movies or video clips on mobile to keep me entertained.” The kid said, “My legs are aching and I feel tired. I will go to school after a few days. My friends are waiting.”
