T Subbarami Reddy to head House panel on legislation

Mr Reddy, succeeded Nejma Heptullah who is a minister in the Narendra Modi Government

NEW DELHI: Congress leader T. Subbarami Reddy has made appointed as the chairman of 15-member crucial Parliamentary Committee on Subordinate Legislation succeeding Nejma Heptullah who is a minister in the Narendra Modi Government.

Mr Reddy, who was the chairman of Parliamentary Committee on science and technology, will now head the important committee.

First constituted in the 1960s, the Subordinate Legislation Committee will scrutinize and review all the rules, regulations, byelaws, schemes or other statutory instruments issued by various ministries like defence, home affairs, corporate affairs, finance, environment, power and energy.

The appointment was made in a notification issu-ed by Rajya Sabha secretary general Shumsher K. Sheriff on Monday. The panel has members from various political parties.

Other members of the committee include MP Achuthan, Ali Anwar Ansari, Shadi Lal Batra, Prof Jogen Chowdhury, Kalpataru Basu, Prof. M.V. Rajeev, S. Muthukaruppan, K. Prarasarn, Dr K.P. Ramalingam, Dr K. keshava Rao, Arvind Kumar Singh, Shankarbhai N. Vegad and Bhupinder Yadav.
