Bibinagar NIMS may get delayed

People of Bibinagar clamouring that a huge set-up has been made but there are no facilities.

Hyderabad: Bibinagar’s Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences outpatient department will take a month or more to start, as the equipment and staff for it is in the finalisation stage.

While the Telangana government was very keen to start the hospital as soon as possible, the building requires finishing touches.

A senior doctor of Nims said, “The process for starting a full-fledged out-patient department has been put in place. We are finalising the tenders for equipments for diagnostics. The recruitment of temporary para-medical staff and doctors will be done for now to at least start the set up and see the response of the people.”

People in the area of Bibinagar have been clamouring that a huge set-up has been made but there are no facilities. These people have to come to the city for medical aid.

While the state government process of recruitment of permanent doctors will take time, the director of health and medical education has decided to opt for temporary set-up for now.

A senior doctor of Nims explained, “The faculty from NIMS cannot move out as the hospital itself is facing a shortage of doctors. The new building of Nims in Banjara Hills is not fully operational and used to its full capacity. These issues too are drawbacks for the hospital and the state government has to look into this issue too.”
